April Showers

April showers, a term used to describe spring rain in parts of the northern hemisphere, particularly the United Kingdom - Showers not constant rain!  The rain woke me a few times in the night and when I awoke this morning it was still throwing it down.  It has rained for most of the day on and off.  The forecast does look better for the morning but rain again tomorrow afternoon.


Yesterday we decided to hire a car to give us some mobility and collect a few items previously ordered and also to a general supermarket shop.  Now we are moored on the outskirts of Coventry, I googled car hire for the area and found an Enterprise about 1.5 miles down the road.  I rang them, checked I had the correct branch and arranged a car for yesterday morning.  As arranged we were picked up from outside the pub, we were being taken to the office to complete the necessary paperwork, but we were quite surprised to be heading towards Nuneaton.  On questioning the guy who had picked us up, he was as confused as us, saying perhaps Coventry had no cars.  As our first point of call was Braunston this added considerably to the time, distance and fuel used, however the car served its purpose, jobs done and can't really fault the rest of the service.  Oh, and I chose lunch location today, M&S cafe, much better than Johns choice yesterday!


Today we have had a bit of a lazy day, I have done a bit of cleaning and finished the book I was reading.  John is still suffering with his cold and now has a really annoying cough (to him and me!).  We put a Rusboy tablet on the Reflex stove this morning, it made for some very colourful flames for a while.


There were some boats moving this morning when there was a break in the rain, the water points were very busy and they are either very slow taps, or everyone was low on water, as the boats were on the water points for a long time.  There were occasional boats this afternoon but not many.


We might make a dash for it in the morning if the weather is a bit better, as we need to fill up with water.  We should make it through Nuneaton before the rain which is forecast for the afternoon.
