This morning we got chatting to the boat behind, so we set off much later than planned, already a number of boats had passed us and as we set off a boat pulled out in front, so close that we had to reverse so we didn't hit them, they obviously wanted to get to the locks first. There was a couple of boats waiting at the first lock but as there were boats coming down we soon lost the queue and made good progress up to Clayton top lock. We stopped at Fenny Compton and used the laundrette but as it was busy and we didn't have a great mooring we decided to continue on into the countryside.
We have seen more boats in the last two days than we probably have all summer, a mixture of hire and private boats, not sure if its the good weather forecast for the week or the end of the school holidays!
8.5 miles 8 locks
